A Brief Overview of Over Jacketing and Tubing Extrusion Processes

 Over jacketing and tubing extrusion are the most preferred processes through which a large number of plastic parts are manufactured using a tube extrusion machine. In the over jacketing process of wire coating, some bundles of bare wires and filaments are pulled into the center of the die which is almost similar to a tubing die. Depending upon the application, different types of materials are used in the process.

Tubing Extrusion 

Tubing extrusion is one of the most popular, fast, and cost-effective methodologies used to create a wide range of tubing solutions such as medical tubing and drinking straws on a very sophisticated tube extrusion machine. The tubing extrusion process is quite similar to the standard or regular extrusion. It is only the stage of die that makes a difference. For the hollow section extrusion, a special pin also known as the mandrel is put inside the die and a positive pressure is applied onto the inner cavities.  

The extrusion strategy for specialty applications

For specialty applications, a separate strategy is adopted to carry out the activities on a tube extrusion machine made and supplied by the extrusion and coiling machine manufacturers in India. Specialty applications need a large number of holes or lumens for which the tooling work is carried out by placing more pins on the center of the die. In many cases, the pins to be used are available with varied air pressures from a wide range of sources.

Thus, it becomes easier for the manufacturers to extrude products easily by adjusting lumen sizes according to the pressure of the individual pins. After emerging from the extrusion process, all the tubes are perfectly coiled and as per the requirements and predetermined specifications, a coating of either zinc or flux is applied onto them to increase the performance of the tube.
